MAP Project

Music Access Project ~ MAP aims to develop participants' skills in musical improvisation - using all sorts of instruments and everyday objects in unusual ways - no previous musical training needed. A course of experiential training days are delivered over the year by Philip Robinson, who specialises in making music with people of all abilities and is himself a performing musician, composer, sonic facilitator, and co-founder and musical director of Wolf and Water Arts Company. There is also a skill-share training element to the project facilitated by participants.

MAP is supported by Humphrey Davy School and The Penwith Music Centre

The pilot project has been a great success, with around 18 people attending throughout. We have all grown in confidence in making music with weird and wonderful instruments, everyday objects, our voices, and with other people. We have made music inspired by objects, working to a theme, and to make the soundtrack for a silent movie. Toby and Robert inspired us during the skill shares, and Philip has facilitated the project days in an inclusive way which has helped everyone find their musician within! (Rachel Bennetts)

The current group performed at the Penzance Golowan Festival Mazey Day celebrations on Saturday 28th June 2008 under the banner of Take the Biscuit Collective.

We hope to continue with MAP again soon. Please contact the the office on: 01736 334682 if you are interested in attending the MAP workshops.
